Abstract
598,434. Collapsable baby carriages and roadvehicle trailers. SMEE, A. T. Sept. 4, 1945, No. 22693. [Class 108 (i)] In a chassis for a folding baby carriage or road-vehicle trailer each conventional fixed axle is replaced by two parallel members A pivoted at P to the wheel housings H and each pivoted to a plate J so that the wheels may be swung from the position shown to lie. one behind the other in line. As shown for a baby carriage, stops B adapted to pass through registering holes in the members A and in the wheel housings H are carried on members U pivoted at V to the wheel housings and lock the members A in the folded and unfolded positions. To the plate J is pivoted a chassis member C which may carry a wheel K and to the member C is pivoted, the first of a pair of members D which form with a tie E the handle and when the latter is disconnected may be folded around the folded wheels. A fabric or leather body having a footboard tand seat attached is secured at three points F to the chassis and when rolled up may be secured to the folded chassis by means of clips G. For a trailer vehicle the cloth or leather body is replaced by a collapsable or removable box body and a suitable towing attachment is substituted for the handle.
