Abstract

168,625. Wood, B. G. May 4, 1920. Hoods for side-cars, cycle-cars, &c. are stowed in a receptacle behind the back of the vehicle seat. The hood frame consists of pivoted uprights C supporting rear hoops E which carry an intermediate hoop H and stretcher-bars F carrying the front hoop G, the bars being notched to receive the ends of the uprights C to hold the hood extended in conjunction with straps J. The back curtain O of the hood may be secured to the body at L or extended over the dickey seat and attached at K. Press-buttons M hold up the slack in the former position. To stow the hood the seat B is swung forwards and the hood moved about pivots D and folded into a container S, Fig. 2. Slots T on the seat back may engage the uprights to hold them in operative position, or the uprights may fit into tapered sockets and be removed therefrom for storage behind the seat. According to the Provisional Specification,. the body is preferably widest at the seat and the hood of slightly less width; and the hood may be stowed behind a fixed seat.
