Abstract

165,754. Lewkowicz, L. July 1, 1920, [Convention date]. Hoods.-In a transformable body for vehicles, the hood structure comprises longerons, supports, and hinged hoodsticks adapted to close flatly and compactly when the hood is folded, the ends of the hoodsticks being bevelled to form stops to consolidate the erected structure. As shown, a main stick 5, hinged to the body 1, rests against an abutment 7<a> and is held up by a hinged support 3. The main stick carries a rear stick 4 the end of which is bevelled to rest against the main stick. A two-part cant-rail 9 is hinged to the main stick and carries a stick 13 with a bevel 14<a> acting as a stop. The forward part of the cant-rail is adapted to be locked to the windscreen 23 and is supported by an upright 17 detachably connected thereto and to the body. Below the cant-rail hinge is hinged an upright 15 also adapted to be secured to the body, and both uprights act as guides for windows 11 which slide in body recesses. A housing 22 receives the hood which is adapted to be held down by a latch supported on the rail 9 adapted to pass over pins 19, Fig. 3, on the support 15 and to be latched to the body at 26.
