Abstract
147,895. Buch, M. Jan. 16, 1919, [Conation date]. Hoods.-A collapsible hood for motor-cars, motor-boats &c. comprises a folding framework constructed after the manner of a lazy-tongs, and supported solely at the upper end of a single support 3 pivotally mounted on each side of the vehicle. The front and rear portions of the folding framework are arranged to balance each other approximately. The framework comprises pairs of bars 5, 6 and 7, 33 jointed at 6<a>, 33<a> and connected by links 34, 35, the bar 6 being pivotally mounted on the support 3 and the bar 7 connected thereto by a link 36. The pairs of jointed bars cross each other in front of the supports 3. A spring 37 connecting the support 3 and bar 6 is arranged inside the support 3 so that it is in tension when the hood is collapsed, or two springs may be used, one of which acts on the support 3 and the other on the bar 6. Hoop-sticks are carried by the free ends of the bars 5, 6, 7, 33 and the links 34, 35 may be extended to carry hoop-sticks in place of, or in addition to, those carried by the bars 6, 7.
