Tipping-wagons. - In engine operated tipping-gear for motor and other vehicles, the power is transmitted to the body through a pair of inclined struts contacting with the ground. The struts A, Fig. 1, are removably pivoted to a lever C guided at one end by a slotted plate E on the chassis J, the rear inclined end of the lever being pivoted to the body frame H, which is pivoted on a cross-bar K supported on a bracket at the rear of the chassis. When the vehicle, after being positioned for tipping with the struts in place, is moved forwards, the bcdy is tipped until after the struts pass the vertical position, when the body is replaced by gravity. The struts are normally hung on hooks V connected to locking-bolts N, the weight of the struts holding the bolts in position to lock the body, against the action of springs R. Alternatively, the struts a, Fig. 2, may be pivoted in a lever c sliding in a pivoted slide e on the chassis, and pivoted to the body h, which on forward movement of the chassis is first held by the struts a and slides over the chassis on rollers or the like, so that a bar k disengages a hook m<1> and engages a hook m<2>. The slide e has meanwhile. been moved in front of the connection b so that further movement of the chassis tips the body.
