Abstract

360,421. Gun carriages. PAVESI, U., 18, Via Oglio, Milan, Italy. May 6, 1930, No. 13897. [Class 92 (i).] A vehicular mounting particularly for antiaircraft-guns comprises in combination a frame A, wheels B, C yieldably and movably mounted on the frame, reduction gearing such as r, z for moving the wheels outwardly of the frame to lower the frame into a firing position on the ground, and anchoring members such as a, e permanently carried by the frame to check the recoil. In the carriage shown in Fig. 1, the axle D of the front steering wheels B is mounted on a bracket F movable about a pivot G on the frame by the engagement of a worm r with a sector s. The rear wheels C are carried on a U-shaped axle E and after disconnection from the springs M can be swung into the position C<1> by operating the worm gear z. The arms e carrying anchoring sprags can be lowered into engagement with the ground together with a gunner's platform m. The raising and lowering of the frame may be assisted by screw jacks c, d which also permit of levelling. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the axle of the rear wheels is rearwardly movable in arcuate guides by a wormoperated pinion engaging a fixed rack R which during transport can rock on a pivot N against the action of the bearing- spring M.
