Abstract

456,298. Gun carriages. AKTIEBOLAGET BOFORS, Bofors, Sweden. Nov. 18, 1935, No. 31934. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1934. [Class 92 (i)] Four-wheeled travelling carriages of the kind in which the wheels are mounted on cranks 6 at the ends of axle trees 2, 3 which are rotatable to bring the carriage frame into contact with the ground for firing, have levers 14, 15 rigidly connected to the axle trees for rotating them by hand and spring balancing devices 18 for facilitating the raising and lowering of the frame. In the travelling position, the front lever 14 which is forked is connected to draught members 37, 38 and forms a tow bar and the rear lever 15 is connected at 41 to the gun to steady the movable parts of the gun mounting. Each axle tree carries a locking sector plate provided with notches 23 which are engaged by a rotatable locking pin 24 for fixing the wheels to the carriage in the travelling position, the firing position or in intermediate positions. The locking plates are connected by links or chains to the springs 18. The ends of the longitudinal frame member 1 and of the hinged transverse outriggers 28 are provided with screw jacks 34 rotated by lockable and housable handles 35, the ends of the jacks being ball jointed to ground plates 29. Anchor pins 44 are also provided.
