Abstract

327,364. Sayers, W. P. July 20, 1929. Hand-trucks.-In hand-trucks of the kind in which the upper platform is raised by cam mechanism operable by the movement ni the handle the cam mechanism includes four eccentrics disposed in housings in the upper platform and mounted in the underframe for rotation in respect thereto and the hand-truck also includes cams mounted in pairs on two shafts carried by the underframe, wheels being freely mounted on the ends of one of the shafts. The lower frame 2 carries a rear axle 9 and a swivelling fork for the single steering wheel 5. The rear axle 9 which carries the wheels 10 is provided with cams or eccentrics 11 rotatable in housings 12 in the upper elevating frame 13. A similar shaft 19 carrying cams 18 in housings 17 is disposed as shown and the shafts are provided with cranks 20 linked together by links 21 which are connected by members 22 to a bell-crank 23, 25 hinged at 24 to the front wheel head. Depression of the handle bar 8 rotates the cams 11, 17 to raise the platform 13 which may be locked in elevated position by a spring-coutrolled catch 27. A slidable latch 26 is provided .to engage the bell-crank portion 25 to lower the platform.
