Abstract

2513. Schneider, E. Jan. 30. Couplings for road vehicles. - Relates to transport carriages for the barrels of dismounted field guns and to constructions of the barrel and slide to facilitate dismounting the gun. According to the invention, the barrelreceiving frame is provided with adjustable guide-wheels or rollers for the barrel, and, in one construction, the cradle of the gun-carriage also has adjustable rollers, for lifting the barrel clear of the slide when the connexion between these parts is broken by an axialrotation of the barrel. In a second construction, the frame of the transport-carriage is adapted to receive and guide the gun and cradle together. Figs. 2, 5, and 6 illustrate the first construction. The gun-barrel g is normally secured to the slide h by hooks g<2>, g<3> and a projection g<1> engaging respectively, hooks h<2>, h<3> and a recess h<1> in the slide. When, by rotation of the barrel g into the position shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the barrel and slide are disconnected, the barrel is raised off the slide by two vertically-adjustable rollers k carried by the cradle i of the gun-carriage. The barrel is temporarily retained in the disengaged position by a spring- bolt n. The transport-carriage a is brought into the transfer position, in which a pin p thereon enters a hole q in the cradle i, and rocks a lever r which lowers the barrel-retaining bolt n. Guide-rollers d, Fig. 6, carried by blocks c, vertically-adjustable in recesses in the barrelreceiving frame a, receive and guide the barrel g as it is run back on to the frame a, and when the transfer is completed, the blocks c are lowered until the barrel rests upon the rigid supports b<1>. Fig. 9 shows a transverse section of the frame of a transport carriage that receives both the gun and cradle. The frame has a number of vertically-adjustable transverse rollers d, and also side rollers w on eccentric pins w'.
