551,105. Sliding bolts. SPARKS, W., and TONKS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Feb. 25, 1942, No. 2490. [Class 44] In a flush bolt for doors and windows of the kind operated by a finger lever k and in which the bolt executes a slight angular movement as it is shot or withdrawn, the bolt is retained in each of its extreme positions by a blade spring n one end of which is secured to the bolt whilst the other end co-operates with an abutment carried by the attachment plate a on which the bolt is slidably carried. As shown, the abutment is in the form of a roller q pivotally mounted between lugs o on plate a. Plate a has an end-piece b with an aperture guiding the bolt-head g and a recess j within which the lever k is pivoted at m, the upper end of the recess providing a cupped abutment s against which lever k abuts when the bolt is shot. The bolt shown comprises a cylindrical head g, rod hand member i to which the bladespring n is riveted, the lever being pivotally connected to part i which is shaped to provide an abutment for lever k when the bolt is retracted as shown.
