Abstract

551,099. Mixing air and gas. SALTER, E. G. Jan. 13, 1942, No. 522. [Class 7 (ii)] A device for mixing air and gas, particularly producer gas, for supplying an engine comprises a tapered inlet tube G arranged to admit the gas to a surrounding casing to which air is admitted as indicated by the arrow E, the inside of the casing being fitted with spiral vanes D. The air is adjusted by a ported disc C rotated over a similarly ported fixed disc B, and the supply of mixture to the engine is controlled by a throttle H. A carburetter for starting may be attached at J and provided with a throttle connected at L to another throttle K in the gas mixing chamber, so that when one throttle is open the other is closed.
