Abstract

547,607. Cleaning air. TALBOYS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SMITH, C. G. April 17, 1941, No. 5009. [Class 8 (ii)] Dust is removed from air by causing it to pass radially inwards or outwards through gapped circular or polygonal baffles 32 of oilabsorbing material on which it impinges. The oil may be fed to the baffles by wicks extending through holes in a plate 33 covering the oil reservoir ; or pressure of the entering air may force oil from the reservoir. Outlet holes may be formed in the cylindrical outer casing by pressing tongues out of the material.. Alternatively an air inlet is formed in the cover 11 leading inwards to the axis, and an air outlet passage is provided between the outer casing and the body of the filter and base of the oil reservoir.
