Abstract

823,886. Air cleaners. KNECHT, A. May 22, 1957 [Nov. 29, 1956], No. 16283/57. Class 8(2). A combined silencer and air filter comprises a dome-shaped casing 7 having a dust laden air inlet 10 and a generally flat annular base plate 6 having a central clean air outlet 11 and a marginal bead 5 between which and a bead 8 on the rim of the casing 7 is clamped a radially extending portion of an annular end disc 3 of an inward flow star-sectioned paper filter sleeve 1, the other end of which is closed by a disc 2. The silencing chamber is formed by the casing 7 and the sleeve 1. As shown the outlet 11 projects within an inturned sleeve 12 of the base plate 6 but may be integral therewith.
