Abstract

547,237. Bearings. OWEN, B. H. March, 10 1941, No. 3188. [Class 12 (i)] The axis of rotation of pulley wheels and sprockets is variable in relation to the shaft axis to carry cables &c. other than at right angles to the shaft. Two eccentric members 2, Fig. 1, on shaft 1 carry ball bearings which engage a spherical track in housings 3 mounted in the pulley 4. Members 2 have flats for rotation to vary the inclination of the pulley. In a modification, Fig. 2, the shaft 11 carries an eccentric bush 5 inserted into the eccentric pulley centre 6, which is provided with guide plates 8, 9 and distance pieces 10. A spring 7 is used to lock the members in their setting, and a taper washer 12 with a projection engaging a slot in the bush 5 provides an abutment at right angles to the shaft axis so that a number of pulleys can be secured together.
