Abstract

903,982. Variable-speed friction gear. CAVALLO-GETRIEBEUND ZAHNRADERFABRIK G.m.b.H., FRIEDRICH. Dec. 5, 1960, No. 41787/60. Class 80 (2). A continuously variable friction gear comprises a ball f frictionally engaging internal conical surfaces e of driving and driven shafts b and shifted to vary the gear ratio by pins g located in bores in, and rotating with, their respective shafts. Springs k provide the necessary contact pressure. Both pins may, as shown, be connected for simultaneous adjustment, alternatively one pin may be spring-biased towards the ball. Bearings may be interposed between the pins and the ball.
