Abstract

857,642. Planting machines. SCHROEDER, W., [trading as HOWALDT, F. [Firm of]]. July 20, 1959 [July 23, 1958 ; Nov. 25, 1958], No. 24781/59. Class 6(1). A planting out device comprises arms 8 interconnected at their free ends by belts 9 to form pockets for receiving plants. As shown in Fig. 1 the arms are mounted on discs 5 mounted at an angle to each other so that the pockets open and close. The discs are coupled together and one disc is driven by a presswheel 1. As shown in Fig. 11 for setting potatoes the discs 5 are parallel and the pockets do not open and close. A plate 28 retains the potatoes in the pockets. The discs are driven by wheels 1 and covering discs 32 are provided. Several machines may be coupled up side by side, the shafts of the discs being coupled together and driven by a pair of outer land wheels.
