Abstract
546,802. Refrigerators. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. July 24, 1941, No. 9391. Convention date, May 22, 1940. [Class 29] A "breaker" strip 16 is secured between the outer and inner wall elements 13, 14 of a refrigerator door by means of a bent metal strip 21 engaging the inner wall flange and the edge of the breaker strip, and pressure is applied to maintain the other edge of the breaker strip seated in a groove in a frame member 10 by screws 20 or bolts securing the inner wall to the frame member. There are four breaker strips around the edges of the door and the corner joints are. covered by outer comer pieces 23 secured by screws or bolts to inner corner pieces 22. The frame 10 may be a rectangular wood or metal member, and the base 17 of the groove is preferably at right angles to the breaker strip, which is preferably sloped at an angle of between 15 and 25 degrees to the normal to the plane of the door. The breaker strip engages and retains one edge of a packing strip 19 which is also engaged by a flange 18 of the outer wall. The breaker strips may be of synthetic resin or other odourless synthetic material.
