Abstract

683,739. Refrigerators. COOLERATOR CO. Feb. 23, 1951 [Sept. 1, 1950], No. 4427/51. Class 29 A breaker strip 35 for refrigerator and like cabinets has bifurcated edges 40a, 40b and 41a, 41b the edge 40b having an inwardly-projecting portion 49 and the edge 41b having an outwardly flaring portion 44, the bifurcations engaging opposite edges 25, 28 of the outer casing 14 and the inner shell 12 at the door opening. The inner shell 12 is secured to the outer casing 14 by brackets 32, 33 welded to the casing and shell and connected by a bolt 34 and spacer block 36. The breaker strips 35 of extruded plastic material are curved in cross section and sprung into place, the tongues 40a, 40b being first forced over a reversely bent flange 25 on the edge of the outer casing 14 so that the projection 49 latches over the edge of the flange. The opposite tongues 41a, 41b are then sprung over the adjacent edge 28 of the inner shell 12: The tongue 41b is cut away to accommodate the brackets 33. The corners are filled by pre-formed sections screwed in position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 557,295.
