[Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXI and XXIX] A telescopic pipe, extended by liquid pressure, for use in fighting fires or spraying crops, comprises a primary section fitted with a non-return inlet valve, and a secondary section having its inner end formed as a piston sliding in the primary section whereby admission of liquid extends the inner section against a stop when liquid passes from one pipe to the other through ports in their walls which are covered by a sleeve ; a third section may be provided and the assembly may be carried on a trailer by a cradle having elevating means. Fig. 6 shows the junction between two extended sections. The primary section 41, having at its lower end a hose connection, a non-return valve and a draining cock, is provided with an internal skirt 56 having two V shaped notches into which projections 69 on a collar 68 on the secondary section 62 fit. The liquid passes from one section to the other through the ports 58, 59, 67 and the connecting space formed between the pipe 41 and sleeve 61. As shown in Fig. 3 the pipes are mounted on a cradle 21, 22, pivoted to struts 16, 17 on a chassis and raised by a hand-operated elevating gear.
