Abstract

331,310. Electrolux, Ltd., and Hafner, J. C. April 26, 1929. Couplings, disconnectible ; cup-leather, overlap joints with valves. -A hose &c. pipe is coupled to a domestic water supply pipe &c. by a union comprising an annular rubber member 1 which is provided with an internal depending flange 2 adapted to be applied to the supply pipe and to be held thereon by the water pressure, and an externally threaded or grooved member 6 carried thereby to receive the hose. The lower end of the member 1 is preferably reinforced by a metal casing 3 having a pressed-out portion 4 to receive a rim 5 on said member and the host connector 6 is held therein by a washer 9. In order to control the flow of water through the union the inner end of the connector 6 is fitted with an adjustable throttle 10 or with one of a series of throttles having apertures 11 of different areas. In a modified construction the member 1 is formed of metal while the flange 2 is made separately and is secured thereto.
