Abstract
571,422. Combined air and water pumps. POWER, M. E. Feb. 11, 1944, No. 2547. [Class 102 (in)] In a hand or power operated water pump suitable for use in wells or sewers or for extinguishing fires, the operating means 12 of the water pump 1 is connected to that 9 of a smaller capacity air pump 2 having tubing 8 for conveying air to the person using the end 19 of the hose 10 remote from the water pump. As shown, the cylinder of the pump 2 is bolted to that of the pump 1 and the tubing 8 is clipped to the hose 10. The air nozzle 15 includes a non-return valve, it is surrounded by a cup 16 containing a dished baffle 18 and a perforated cap 17, and it may be secured to the coat of the person using the hose end 19 by means of a button-hole tab 20. According to the Provisional Specification the air pump 2 may be double acting and of shorter stroke than the water pump 1, and the air tubing 8 may be fitted with control valves.
