Abstract

542,783. Screw conveyers. WELLS, J. F., and TAYLOR A. E. Aug. 22, 1940, No. 13342. [Class 78 (i)] Fuel is supplied to a furnace, forge &c. by a screw conveyer actuated intermittently by the breathing action of a bellows! such breathing action also controlling the supply to and the exhaust of air from the bellows. Fuel from hopper 6 is fed through the fire bars 4a by a worm 8 rotated through ratchet gear from a beam 17 pivoted at 18 and actuated by bellows 19. Air is supplied to, and released' from, the bellows by conduits 21, 22, controlled by a sliding plate valve 25 operated by snap mechanism from the beam 17 at both limits of its movement.
