Abstract

584,863. Kiln &c. fireplaces. BIGWOOD & SON, Ltd., J., TINLEY, E. L., and DRIVER, F. A. Aug. 15, 1944, No. 15530. [Class 51 (i)] In a fireplace for industrial furnaces such as beehive kilns in which power driven fuel feeding mechanism conveys fuel from a hopper to an inclined grate pivotally mounted at its lower' end, the front of the furnace is provided with two doors, one above the grate and one below, the latter having a perforated air valve. As shown, the furnaces are spaced round a kiln body 10 and are each provided with a hopper 11 having a power driven feed 14 delivering on to an inclined grate 19 pivoted at 23 and adjusted by means of a lever 25 fitted with a pawl 28 and ratchet 29. A door 31 above the' grate permits hand feeding &c. and the door 34 is fitted with a hit-and-miss valve 36 for regulating the air supply.
