728,650. Refuse-consuming furnaces. HASLINGHUIS, J. M. Dec. 17, 1953, No. 35154/53. Class 51 (1). A furnace installation for burning shavings and similar light and inflammable waste comprises a supply duct 7 connected to a source of waste and leading to a. furnace having a grate 3 inclined .downwardly at an angle of at least 25 degrees, said grate being located in a boiler flue and terminating at a point spaced from the front face of a firebridge 4, means being provided for preventing flames from firing back to the supply duct. The means for preventing firing back comprise an open hopper 5, an open chute 10 leading to the hopper and a blade wheel 8 controlling the supply of material from the supply duct 7 to the chute 10. A pressure-relief valve 12 is provided in a flue located beneath the boiler.
