Abstract

520,421. Grates. RIJSWIJK, J. N. VAN. March 31, 1939, No. 10074. [Class 51 (i)] In furnace in which fuel is delivered by an underfeed stoker to a firepot communicating with an opening in a stationary firebed arranged above, the firepot is rotatable with reference to the firebed. As shown in Fig. 1, a screw conveyer 1 feeds fuel to the firepot 5 consisting of superposed rings the lower one of which is provided with gear teeth 9 by which the firepot is rotated by a toothed wheel 8 on the shaft 7 of the conveyer. A fan 19 supplies air to a chamber 14 beneath the firebed from which it passes through tuyeres 10, 11 in the firebed 6 to to the fuel above and to the fuel in the firepot. The firebed has supply and delivery pipes 12, 13 for cooling water.
