Abstract
399,879. Grates; ashpits; Walls. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (Domestic Stoker Co. ; 7, Dey Street, New York, U.S.A.) April 16, 1932, No. 10947. [Class 51 (i).] Fuel is fed by a screw conveyer 17 to the bottom of a firepot comprising a lower fixed section 21 supported on the fuel conduit and extending upwardly to the combustion zone arranged within a rotatable upper section 22 secured to an annular frame 23 supported on an annular bearing 24 and provided with a toothed ring 36 connected by gearing with the conveyer shaft 18. The firepot is surrounded by an air chamber 25 to which air is supplied through a conduit 37. Clips 29 secured to the chamber 25 retain the upper section of the firepot in position during transportation. The bottom of the casing 25 is provided with a rotary pocketted drum 42 for the discharge of ashes driven by a rotary arm 45 on the conveyer shaft. Perforations 39 are provided in the firepot for supply of air to the fuel, In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the upper section of the firepot is driven by gearing arranged externally of the chamber 25 such gearing also serving to drive the ash-removing drum 67 through a gearing 72 mounted on a shaft 69 provided with a projection 70 engaging with a recess 71 in the drum. As shown in Fig. 2, the furnace wall 49 may be corrugated.
