Abstract
541,434. Ventilators. DUTFIELD, A. E., RAWLINGS, E. J., and RAWLINGS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. July 30, 1940, No. 12361. [Class 137] An extraction ventilator for use on vehicles comprises a shallow box with vertical side walls and end walls A, the foul air entering through an opening G and being withdrawn through transverse terraced outlets C, C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> extending across the width of the ventilator and sub-divided as by strips A of corrugated metal F. These outlets are at one end, or at both ends of the ventilator, and between them are troughs D, D<SP>1</SP> for collecting rain which escapes laterally, or passes through holes a, in the troughs and is run off through outlets d<SP>1</SP>. Wind strikes the raised outlets and exerts a suction effect on the air in the ventilator. Baffle J may be provided to prevent rain from entering the opening G.
