482,138. Ventilators ; chimney tops. MUIRHEAD, J., MUIRHEAD, D. P., and MUIRHEAD VENTILATORS, Ltd. Sept. 28, 1936, No. 26208. [Classes 25 and 137] An extractor or ventilator to be fitted to roofs, or to ventilating or chimney-tops comprises a box formed by a base-plate 6 with a central duct opening 9 between duct walls 11 which extend from one side to the other, and a cover with inclined or curved divergent surfaces 13 which divert air currents A through openings 18, 17 between external baffles 16 and the surfaces 13 and edges of end walls 8. Baffles 19 are fitted in the space between the duct 12 and the end walls, baffles 20 at right-angles to baffles 19 extending from the base-plate 6. Air currents B pass under the baffles 16, and out through the openings 18, the currents A and B having an extractor effect on the air in the box and duct 9, the baffles 19 and 20 preventing air currents from entering the duct 9. The baffles 16 may be curved, and may, in a modification, be curved over the end walls, the space between the latter and the baffles containing a midfeather.
