Abstract
420,879. Ventilating vehicles. BOWYER, F., 65, Dale Street, LONGMORE, S. H., 47, Rutter Street, and DARBY, J. H., 32, Lower Forster Street, all in Walsall. July 5, 1934, No. 19791. [Class 137] A ventilation system for a closed vehicle comprises one or more open-ended ducts 12 disposed longitudinally adjacent the roof, each duct having downwardly directed cowls 20, 21 and one or more flat sloping deflector plates 24. The air-flow when the vehicle is in motion causes the vitiated air to be extracted from the interior of the vehicle through openings 22 leading to the interior. When a sliding roof is provided, one duct is arranged on each side of the sliding member. The duct may be arranged to pass immediately below and may be secured to the outer roof 10, channel members being disposed between the cross members 11 which are pierced to permit of the passage of air. The peak 21 of the roof, or a sun-visor, or both, form a cowl which, together with a sloping windscreen 19, force the air into the duct.
