Ventilators; ventilating vehicles; forced ventilation.-A ventilator for closed vehicles &c. comprises concentric inner and outer tubes 1, 5 provided with openings 2, 4 which are adapted to be exposed to the interior of the vehicle, means, operable manually, for effecting relative angular movement of the tubes whereby the openings are brought into or out of engagement, and means for permitting, inducing, or forcing a flow of air through the interior of the tubes and the openings. The device may be disposed at the top of windows or rear lights, or it may have a channel 1<a>, Fig. 1, for engaging the top of a fixed or movable glass wind-screen. The tubes 1, 5, Fig. 1, are provided with apertures 2, 4 in staggered formation on opposite, sides, and an operating- handle 6 on the inner tube is adapted to work in a slot 7 in the outer tube. When the openings are in register, air enters the front openings and passes into the vehicle, through the rear openings. The tubes may be arranged within the scuttle 9 of a vehicle as shown in Fig. 3 and the means for forcing air through the tubes consists of air-collecting cowls on the extremities of the inner tube, a power-driven supply fan 12, or an air-extracting fan 12a. Cowls for withdrawing air through the tubes are shown in Figs. 4 and 5 and may be mounted on either the inner or outer tube. The first Provisional Specification describes also the inner tube as being slidable longitudinally within the outer tube.
