Abstract

Ventilators. - A ventilator for vehicles, ships, &c. consists of an attachable base plate a, Figs. 1 and 3, having an upstanding neck a<1> opening into a longitudinal tubular air channel a<5> adjacent the ends of which baffle members a<6> are arranged, and a current-directing shield b is adapted to enclose the air channel and baffle members. The shield is provided with horizontal and vertical baffle members b<1>, b<2> to assist the suction action of the device. Each baffle plate a<6> may be curved or consists of a main sloping part a<6> and end horizontal parts a<7>, a<8>. The base plate a and shield b are adapted to be secured by screws. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the shield consists of a sheet metal stamping b<4> of cruciform shape having depending ribs b<2x> and a spacing strut b<3>. The ends of the baffles a<6> are curved as at a<9> to direct air past the neck a<1>. A fan may be mounted in the device.
