539,116. Supplying liquid fuel. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 27, 1940, No. 3623. Convention date, March 27, 1939. [Class 7 (iii)] To facilitate ignition of the main body of fuel the supply from a pump is divided so that part of the fuel is delivered in advance of the other part. As shown in Fig. 1, a pump 1 delivers to an injector through two pipe lines 11 and 12, the latter having a shorter path than the pipe line 11. The cross-section of the pipe 12 may be less than that of the pipe 11. Under certain working conditions the supply through either pipe line may be cut out and in Fig. 1 the supply to the pipe line 12 is shown controlled by a valve 20. The fuel delivery passages may be formed as an element constructed as shown in Fig. 5 in which fuel entering at 25 either traverses a passage 27 or a longer helical passage 29.
