536,256. Gun mountings. SOC. ITALIANA E. BREDA PER COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE. Oct. 30, 1939, No. 28997. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1938. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] To avoid undue movements of the gunner in elevating a gun from the horizontal to the vertical position the cradle is provided with a large arcuate rail F for direct manipulation by the hand of the gunner who can in any adjusted position of the gun operate thumbpieces 8 to release the breech-block for firing. Training is facilitated by a shoulder-piece C extending upwardly and rearwardly from the carriage checks B, the sight x pivoted to the shoulder-piece being linked to the gun for synchronous movements in elevation necessitating rocking movements only of the gunner's head. By placing the trunnion axis forward of the training axis, the gunner's movements during training are minimised. Fig. 4 shows the firing thumb-pieces 8 mounted on an arcuate bar sliding within the rail F and operating on the rear 3 of the breech-block 2 through the medium of a lever 4.
