[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] A sleeve valve is made of an alloy of copper or silver coated by spraying with a hard metal, such as steel, which provides a good oil-carrying surface and resists abrasion. The cylinder or liner is made of an alloy of aluminium or magnesium or similar light alloy, and may be coated by spraying with steel &c., if the sleeve valve is only coated internally. A suitable alloy for the sleeve valve is given as composed of 90 per cent. copper and 10 per cent. aluminium.
