Abstract

519,880. Valves. HALL, H. C., and ASPLEY, E. Sept. 28, 1938, No. 28189. [Class 7 (vi)] A sleeve valve is made of aluminium bronze and coated by chromium plating. The invention is especially applicable to sleeve valves operating between a piston of aluminium alloy and a cylinder of steel or aluminium alloy, the' sleeve being chromium plated inside and outside to a thickness of about 0.0005 inches before running-in the engine. The aluminium bronze may be composed as described in Specifications 516,347 and 519,902, [both in Group II].
