Abstract

1347581 Cylinder liners PONT-A-MOUSSON S A 5 Jan 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 377/72 Heading F1B [Also in Divisions C7 and F2] A rubbing part or structure, such as a cylinder, sleeve or piston of an internal combustion engine (petrol, Diesel or gas) of a compressor, ship or aircraft is coated electrolytically (see Division C7) with chromium-molybdenum containing 0À4-1À5% Mo. The part to be electrolytically coated may be an engine sleeve of ordinary iron, alloyed or non-alloyed pearlitic iron, chromium plated iron or iron already plated with chromiummolybdenum. The bore of a sleeve of a Diesel marine engine for an oil tanker has a chromium coating of radial thickness 1À4 mm and is given a chromium-molybdenum coating of radial thickness 0À60 mm. A groove in, or the end of, a piston may be coated.
