Abstract

1445541 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines KARL SCHMIDT GmbH 29 March 1974 [29 March 1973] 14154/74 Heading F1F A piston for a trochoidal-type I.C. engine is made of a light alloy, which may comprise aluminium, and has axial and radial passages 3 through which fuel oil flows to cool the piston and lubricate bearing surfaces 4 engaging with the eccentric 6. Apertures 5 may be provided to minimize transmission of heat to the surfaces 4. To control the clearances between the eccentric and bearing surfaces a steel, or grey cast-iron, ring gear (not shown) may be embedded in the material between the passages 3 at one end of the piston. A steel ring 7 too may be embedded at the other end of the piston. The gear and ring may serve as thrust rings if the engine has aluminium end-plates.
