Abstract

535,589. Fuel. FIFE. H. R. Oct. 12, 1939, No. 27756. [Class 50] A blend of "petrolatum" and water, for use in spraying fuel to prevent degradation, is obtained in a tank 1 fitted with a heater 2 and an agitator 3. It is pumped under heavy pressure and above the boiling point of water through a line 7, surrounded by a heating coil 8, to an atomising nozzle 9 which directs the spray towards a stream of falling coal; a second nozzle 10 may be located on the opposite side of the stream. The cone of blend issuing from the nozzle may be surrounded with an envelope of low pressure steam which is supplied to the spraying nozzle. U.S.A. Specification 1,912,697 is referred to.
