Abstract
533,787. Liquid fuel burners. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., ADAM, W. G., and GRAY, P. Aug. 18, 1939, No. 23915. [Class 75 (i)] A burner for pitch or other liquid fuel is clamped by a screw 40 on a pivoted yoke-piece 39 to a block 27 formed with two compartments 32, 33 fed with steam and fuel respectively by tubular members 35, 36, the compartment 32 being fitted with an extension 37 projecting into the compartment 33 so as to heat the fuel before it enters the burner. The burner comprises concentric tubular parts 10, 11 mounted in a body 14 and communicating by passages 15, 21 with passages 28, 30 in the block 27 leading from the compartments 33, 32, the passage 30 being fitted with a control valve 31. The steam is caused to swirl on entering the tubular part 10 by passing through tangential orifices. The tubular members 35, 36 are connected by swivel connections 41, 42 to steam and fuel supply pipes 43, 44 thereby allowing the burner to be adjusted about a horizontal axis. The spigot joint 26 allows adjustment of the burner about a vertical axis.
