532,176. Engine turning gear. SOC. ANON. S.P.I.C.A. SOC. POMPE INIEZIONE CASSANI AFFINI. Aug. 18, 1939, No. 23909. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1938. [Class 7 (v)] The flow of air to a compressed-air starting- motor 4 is automatically cut off by a valve such as 21 when the pressure of oil produced by a volumetric pump 27 driven by the engine becomes sufficient. A hand-actuated valve is also provided at 19. The valve 21 is closed against the action of a spring 22 by the oil pressure acting within a bellows 25. The pump 27 may be the lubricating-pump of the engine. The motor 4 drives the engine crank shaft 1 through a free-wheel clutch 2, or through a saw-tooth clutch, which may be moved axially so as to become disengaged, also by the oil pressure produced by the pump 27 acting on a diaphragm or piston. Reduction gearing may be arranged between the shafts 1 and 3.
