Abstract
238,878. Daimler-Motoren-Ges. Aug. 20, 1924, [Convention date]. Pumps, rotary.-In an engine having a blower and particularly a Roots blower a for supercharging, driven from the engine by a clutch, an assembled unit comprising the blower, its clutch l and control gear therefor, and possibly also a silencer for the blower, is connected to the engine by the inertion and fixing of a stub shaft d. The stub shaft is secured to the crank shaft c by a bolt e, and forms the driving member of the clutch l. The driven member f carries a bevel wheel i which drives the blower. Pressure is applied to the clutch plates by a thrust bearing n and sleeve m, actuated by linkage o, p from the driver's seat. Within the sleeve m is fitted a starting handle r, which engages within the stub shaft d, and is provided with a catch at s, which holds the handle in or out of engagement with the stub shaft.
