Abstract

530,286. Fuel-injection valves. BOSCH GES., R. June 21, 1939, No. 18033. Convention date, July 20, 1938. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel-injection valve seating at 6 and opened by fluid pressure is formed with a cylindrical part 14 which, when the valve is first opened, remains within a cylindrical seating so as to permit exit of fuel, the pressure of which, then acting upon the whole seating face of the valve, causes a quick opening to the position shown in Fig. 3, in which the surface 12, provided behind the part 14, produces a divergent conical jet. The bore of the nozzle body is shaped as at 8a, 13 to give a substantially uniform area of flow when the valve is fully open, as shown in Fig. 3. In a modification, the bore in the nozzle body is cylindrical beyond the seating, and the valve is formed with a conical spreader beyond the part 14.
