Abstract

406,956. Fuel injectors. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militarstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 8, 1933, Nos. 31034 and 31035. Convention dates, March 13 and May 11. [Class 7 (iii).] In injection nozzles having a valve or needle b raised by the fuel under pressure against the action of a loading spring m, the resistance to movement during the initial period of the injection increases at a greater rate than the force which tends to continue the opening movement, so that this period forms a substantial part of the whole time during which the valve is open. The valve has a needle z which moves in the nozzle passage with some clearance and gives during this initial period the narrowest cross-section through which the fuel flows. The inclined surface forms the closure for the injection and a splayed distributing projection may extend beyond the needle z. The throttling passage may be placed on the inlet side of the valve surface y. In another construction there are two inwardly inclined faces 13, 11, Fig. 9, extending from the needle z and a deflecting cone 12 beyond these surfaces.
