Abstract

400,539. Liquid-fuel injectors ; filters. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militarstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. May 5, 1933, No. 13093. Convention date, May 21, 1932. [Class 7 (iii).] In a liquid-fuel nozzle having a valve opened by the pressure of the fuel, longitudinal grooves in the valve stem are connected by horizontal passages which serve to filter the fuel. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, fuel enters the nozzle body 9 and passes from the chamber 8 through longitudinal grooves 13 in the valve stem 1 to other longitudinal grooves 14 by way of communicating channels 16. The grooves 14 terminate in an annular chamber 6 from which the fuel is sprayed through orifices 5 controlled by the valve. The channels 16 may be cut as a square thread. In a modified construction, the valve terminates in a mushroom head. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the valve stem 21 is a loose fit in the nozzle body and the clearance thus provided serves as the communicating passage between the recesses 13, 14 and the filter.
