Abstract
401,879. Fuel injectors. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29635. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1931. [Class 7 (iii).] In a liquid-fuel injector having a valve opened outwardly by fuel pressure, one or more passages for the fuel are formed either in the valve or its guide so that the fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber from the passages. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, fuel supplied by a pipe i passes through a bore k in a valve e to fine spraying-passages m, which are covered by the valve guide c until the fuel pressure opens the valve against the action of a spring g. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the passages m are formed in the guide c and are controlled by an edge p on the valve e, the fuel being fed through passages z to a constriction n in the valve. Two passages may be used, the one first opened producing a preliminary injection of fuel before the main injection, and the cam swell of the fuel-injection pump being designed to produce a long interval between the two injections.
