Abstract

549,419. Fuel injectors. NATIONAL GAS & OIL ENGINE CO., Ltd., JONES, J., and WALSHAW, T. D. April 18, 1941, No. 5046. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel injector is constructed so that two valves d, e controlling sets of orifices #, g respectively, are opened in succession by the' fuel pressure. Unequal leverages 6, 7 may be provided between the valves and A spring m acting through a rod n and ball o. Fuel is supplied by 'a 'conduit p to spaces r, s around the valves, and first lifts the valve e, and later the valve d. Each valve may be supplied by a separate pump, or separate springs may be fitted to the two valves, or one valve may be larger than the other. The invention is specially adapted for engines using oil or gaseous fuel, a small quantity of oil being injected for ignition purposes in the latter case by the use of one valve only.
