Abstract
529,822. Clutches. TAYLOR, L. June 9, 1939. No. 16865. [Class 80 (ii)] In a multiplate friction clutch means is provided for positively separating the friction discs when the clutch is disengaged. Co-operating discs d, d' splined to a sleeve a' and a hub a respectively are engaged by fluid pressure acting through a pressure plate e<3> in opposition to the pressure of retracting springs e<4>. Serrated keys e secured to the pressure plate engage and positively move apart the plates d<1> when the clutch is disengaged but are forced to an inoperative position against the urge of springs f by the plates d when the clutch is engaged.
