Abstract

529,799. Turbogenerators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 7, 1939, No. 16750. Convention date, June 7, 1938. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXVI] An electric generator 13 is driven by a gas turbine 25 mounted on the same shaft 12. An air-compresser receives air from an end casing 32 and delivers it through a diffuser 36 to the generator casing. The air passes through ducts 17 and other transverse passages and leaves the. casing by an -annular way between a casing extension 41 and a shield 42 spaced from the inlet 29 and nozzle chamber 28 of the turbine. The turbine may be driven by the exhaust gases of an I-C engine. An oil pump or exciter for the generator having a shaft 44 is driven by worm gear 45 from the shaft 12.
