684,428. Gas turbine plant. GARRETT CORPORATION. May 31, 1949 [Aug. 6, 1948], No. 13715/50. Divided out of 684.401. Class 110(iii) A gas turbine plant comprising a radially inward flow turbine and a radially outward flow compressor which supplies air to the combustion chambers feeding the turbine has the inlet to the compressor arranged between the compressor and turbine and a mechanical drive power take-off shaft arranged on the discharge side of the compressor. The invention is described as a modification of the gas turbine plant described in Specification 684.401. The electric alternator 177 is driven from the compressor shaft through a splined shaft 166 and gearing 168, 170, 175. The starter motor 186 is connected by gearing 189, 162 to the alternator drive shaft 173. The fuel and oil pumps are driven from the same shaft through gearing 182, 183. The branch pipes for the bleeding of compressed air at the discharge of the compressor are replaced by curved elbows.
