Exhaust-silencers.-In a silencer in which the exhaust is mixed with air, the exhaust is admitted tangentially into a chamber a by a pipe n and impinges on a rotatable fan d, which may have bentover corners e. Air is admitted through the perforated end b of the silencer, which has fixed blades h beyond the fan d, an inclined plate f, and a semicircular outlet g. A pulley o or a sprocketwheel on the spindle of the fan d may drive a dynamo for lighting, or actuate a hooter.
